Solvang and Golden Light

Mouse over to see the before image

I've been making textures, textures and more textures after taking Kim Klassen's fabulous Art of Texture class. So fun! After Thanksgiving and on the way home from visiting family, we stopped in Solvang. Such a cute Danish town and the ebelskivers were so tasty! I'll have to try to make some sometime...looking for a recipe. On this photo, I used my new texture, Golden Light (below).

I think it's lovely. You can download it here. I'd love to see what you do with it! Hope you are enjoying the holiday season!

Scenes From The City

Just a few photos from a recent trip into the city. I've been playing with Photoshop filters to sharpen and brighten up raw images and make the colors pop a little.

Busy street in Chinatown. Don't all the red lanterns make things look so festive?

Why? Why not.
I'm really loving graffiti art. Especially after seeing this movie.

Is this man a time traveler from the 1940's or 50's? Here he is in 2011 sketching across the street from the Art Institute. I wonder what he's sketching?

Season's Greetings

I am loving Kim Klassen's Skinny Mini Photoshop class!
And I am so thankful all that the season reminds me of. My family, my friends old and new, all of the good things in my life as well as the challenges that bring me new skills and new strength.
Wishing you all the very best this season.

Visual Poetry

I just finished my last project for the two Photomanipulation classes I took during the month of August taught by Susan Tuttle. I've posted a few of my projects along the way. The rest of them are on my Flickr Photostream. Here's a couple of my favorites:

The classes were fun and I learned a lot of techniques in the four weeks of class. Susan is very helpful and encourages students to play and try new things. Located on the classes website, was everything I needed: a video tutorial, written instructions that I could download and save for later, practice photos, a guided tutorial to follow as I worked my way through each step to manipulate my photos, a link to a Flickr group so we could share photos and support one another and even an Art Bar. Susan has written two books, Exhibition 36: Mixed Media Demonstrations and Explorations and Digital Expressions: Creating Digital Art With Adobe Photoshop Elements.
Susan's artistic flare is apparent when you see her photos. You can view Susan's photos and art on her website and blog, Ilka's Attic, here and her Flickr Photostream here. Check her website for more details on classes offered in the future. I highly recommend them!
