The Farmer's Market: A Festival of Color
I love shopping at our local farmer's market. Everything is organic and fresh. It's a feast for the eyes and soul as well as the body; a festival of color. Buckets abundantly filled with cut flowers; bins, boxes and baskets overflowing with luscious fruits and vegetables; and tables of fresh baked goods, fish, honey, sorbet and coffee. Tantalizing smells of fresh produce waft through the air, alive with the energy of those shopping and sampling. There's a bit of an "old world" feel, similar to the feeling I had when I shopped the open air markets while visiting Paris and other European cities. It feels good to shop at the farmer's market. It feels good to buy
fresh, local, organic food and support the farmer's who grow it and make
it available. I know I'm getting quality, healthy, fresh, organic food and I love the eye candy; there's never a shortage for great photo taking. It's a highlight of my week.

A New Workspace
Look what happened to come my way the other day! An antique writing desk and new workspace for me. And so beautiful too. It's so nice to have a real place to work after working at the dining table for the past year. It needed some cleaning up and still needs a bit of TLC to make it sing, and sing I'm sure it will. It's more than a little distressed, which I kind of like, it seems like it has many stories to tell. Lots of beautiful, intricate details on the desk and chair both. I'll be re-finishing it at some point but I will leave it's original cream and gold colors.
Have you ever seen drawers galore like these? I'm sure I can find many pretty things to stash in here...and here...and here...and here...
Huey has found a new favorite place to sleep. Mystery has been curling up on top of the desk. He moved when I went to get the camera however, and now has gotten the point that he must lounge elsewhere.

Beautiful Home

I know the holidays are officially over and we are into the new year, but I couldn't help naming my new texture, Holiday Spirit, because it just looks like it. In looking for a winter-y, nature-y image to try Holiday out on, I ran across this one that I took last year in Washington state. The trees are just gorgeous in the Pacific Northwest and Holiday brings out their truest and most beautiful colors, showing off all the subtle nuances of the colors.
You can download a high res copy of Holiday Spirit here.
Enjoy!
