Beauti-full
I've been working on 9 8X8 canvas mixed media pieces and they are coming along. I have the first two finished and here is the first one entitled:
Beautiful
It is made around the theme of sensuality. I envisioned the goddess, unabashed and free. I used a bold red as the base layered with soft pinks, blues and gold on top to communicate this. The images of birds and butterflies flying free and roses in full bloom symbolize that the goddess cannot be caged. She must be and IS free to express her love and power. The same love and power that animates butterflies, birds and roses, animates us. It cannot be contained, must not be contained, must be expressed, must be free.
There are two images of goddesses on either side framing the word "Lover".
I used acrylic paint, distress ink, paper, stamp images, and covered the whole thing with Mod Podge Matte to seal it.
Here are some more close ups so the detail can be seen more clearly:

Gratitude Wednesday
"Gratitude goes hand in hand with love, and where one is the other must be found."
Another week is halfway over (doesn't time fly!) and it's time to count the things I have gratitude for:
*I love sweet strawberries
*and a nice cup of tea
*and Rosemary Lavender Shortbread (ah, it tastes like exquisite luxury!)
*and sharing them with special people
*I am most grateful for the people in my life; those I've known for years and those I am just now meeting.
I wish you All Good Things!
What do you have gratitude for this week?

Cabbage Rose Knitted Cuff by Jenny Doh
Here is the Cabbage Rose Knitted Cuff by Jenny Doh. It came all packaged in a cute, little, hand stamped bag; hemp yarn, silk ribbon, bamboo knitting needles and the instructions. The pattern is gorgeous and easy to follow and the hemp yarn knits up very nicely. I'm very happy with the cuff and it's vintage, bohemian style. And it matches perfectly my Delphine sweater that I just finished!

Strip Ease
I took Michelle Ward's challenge...
and came up with this:
This is the first challenge that I've participated in and I got so into it and had so much fun that I forgot to take pictures of the process! It was fun to simply tear the papers and then play with composition. I finished my pages with masks, stamps, and acrylic paint and Distress Ink. Then I added journaling and a quote. Wonderful challenge. Thanks Michelle!

Wednesday Afternoon Gratitude
It's Wednesday and I'm counting a few things I have gratitude for so far this week:
*So happy to have a "studio" to work in!!!!! My daughter gave me her old desk that she doesn't use and my husband cleaned out an extra room and put it in there for me.
*I'm also extremely grateful for all of their support that encourages me to continue creating art.
Mystery likes it too!
What are you grateful for so far this week? I'd love to hear!! Wishing you all good things...
