Take Care...

Somewhere along the line during the past couple of months, I got a little "off". Have you ever had this happen? One minute I was doing well, enjoying my moments and feeling inspired and then a few minutes couple of months later I {suddenly} realized that I felt bored, stressed, tired and uninspired. What happened? I forgot to do what makes me happy and enjoy my moments. I got caught up in doing things for everyone else and taking care of the daily grind...and there's no inspiration in that! So here I am eating a plate of one of my favorite rice dishes and drinking a glass of chardonnay for pure enjoyment and determined to make June the month to get back on track. My prescription:
  • Enjoy my moments; have fun no matter what else is happening
  • Be creative (even if all I'm making is breakfast)
  • Enjoy radical self-care
  • Look around and see all the beauty around me
  • Express my gratitude

Safe Harbor

"A ship is safe in harbor, but that's not what ships are for."
William Shedd

I must admit that lately I've been wanting a safe harbor. Somewhere just to relax and avoid any storms. Somewhere to just be. That's not usually the typical response of my adventurous soul, but the last five years has been challenging to say the least. My little ship has successfully (and sometimes miraculously) weathered a number of storms as of late. And with all the crazy weather, I'm a little tired and a little worried about how my little ship will hold up in the midst of another one. I just don't want to press my luck so to speak. I'm in the midst of setting a course that will bring some inevitable twists and turns on my journey and maybe some landings into some new ports. As with any decision, there are the unknowns. You know, the variables and conditions that you just can't plan for; things you just can't foresee that have a tendency to pop up when you least expect them, and are the least prepared for. I'd like to avoid any surprises right now. But adventurous journey's aren't like that, are they? They're filled with surprises and obstacles and challenges to keep things interesting and show you what you're made of . All one can do is plan and prepare the best of one's information and ability, set the course and sail on. I signed up for the adventurous journey. So, while a safe harbor sounds nice and relaxing sometimes, I think I and my little ship would be a bit bored if we stay in the harbor too long. 'Cause ships are for sailing.

"I firmly believe that all human beings have access to extraordinary energies and powers. Judging from accounts of mystical experience, heightened creativity, or exceptional performance by athletes and artists, we harbor a greater life than we know. There we go beyond those limited and limiting patterns of body, emotions, volition, and understanding that have been keeping us in dry-dock. Instead we become available to our capacity for a larger life in body, mind, and spirit. In this state we know great torrents of delight."

Beach Bliss

Photos taken during a recent trip down to Santa Cruz. It was a little bit chilly but an absolutely beautiful day. I love how the bright blue sky and the golden sunshine make the water sparkle and the colors pop!
